Gun Guys and the Snake

Day two of guest hosing Magic Valley this Morning will be Friday, December 27 from 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

I will have two guests hours on Friday.

  • 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. will be general commentary on life.
  • 7:00 a.m – 8:00 a.m Andy Vawser – film maker/producer of Conquest of the Snake, a documentary of the establishment of the massive irrigation system of southern Idaho. Andy will come by and talk about two things; 1) production of a full documentary and 2) why a documentary on irrigation. Be sure to catch this hour.
  • 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. the popular gun guys will be in the studio to talk guns. A favorite discussion point of all second amendment lovers.
  • 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. will be discussions on how and why the citizens should be well informed during state legislative sessions.

Having these two hours back to back with emphasis on the Snake river and guns has me thinking of a potential western novel I should write some day and title it “Gun Guys and the Snake”. I think I may have something there. It will likely be among all the other great novels I’ve written.

You can listen in from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (Mountain Time) at Newsradio 1310 KLIX or online HERE.

Pastors’ Round Table

Every Thursday from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. On Newsradio 1310 KLIX I am pleased for the opportunity to be on-air with pastors Bear Morton of Magic Valley Bible Curch and Christopher Folkerts of New Covenant United Reformed Church. The host of Magic Valley this Morning, Bill Colley, is gracious, a great American, fair, and a skilled conversationalist.

Join us on Thursday as we give Biblical consideration to real issues.

This week we will think out loud on issues private universities are facing and will continue to face in light of the collapsing morality of the culture and what this means for Christians as the growing secular influence attempts to squeeze the Bible believing Christian into its mould.

Idaho Abortion Human Rights Act Meeting

Today, there is no way to claim simple ignorance on what’s going on when a baby is aborted from the womb. Anyone wanting to claim it is humane or kind to remove the living human from the womb before natural birth has deliberately chosen to ignore truth and has a seared conscience.

“You shall not murder.” God

(Exodus 20:13)

On behalf of all unborn who enter the city of Twin Falls and all children in the womb across the state of Idaho, on behalf of the silent child in great need today, on behalf of the child who has no way to flee his enemy, I am pleased to invite you to attend a special meeting on August 1, 2019. Join me as we prepare for the duty to interpose on behalf of our fellow Triune-God image bearing neighbors.

My friends Bear Morton, pastor at Magic Valley Bible Church, and Christopher Folkerts, pastor at New Covenant United Reformed Church and I have the privilege to host an hour long radio program on Thursdays at 9 a.m. (mountain time). Pastors Round Table is hosted by our friend Bill Colley at Newsradio 1310 KLIX.

On August 1st, we will host a region wide gathering to educate, collaborate, and most importantly pray about moving forward to address abolishing abortion in Idaho. This will not be easy or make anyone popular.

Attend this meeting on August 1, at Eastside Baptist Church (204 Eastland Drive North) in Twin Falls. Not only will we discuss the proposed Idaho Abortion Human Rights Act legislation and meet the sponsors, Representative Heather Scott(District 1) and Representative John Green (District 2) along with Scott Herndon, we will also open our Bibles and hear what God would have us do in our day.

Come at 6 p.m. to meet the legislators and the Pastors Round Table team. The main event will begin at 7 p.m. Seating is limited, but we will do all we can to accommodate the seating needs of all who attempt to come. Parking will be limited so you may want to plan ahead and car pool from the Kmart parking lot with friends or park at Web Nursery.

For the glory of God, come and prepare to mobilize for the day.

Pastors Round Table

Every Thursday on Newsradio 1310 KLIX I have this pleasure to see my friend Bill Colley (out of picture below to the left). Bill is the local talk radio host on Magic Valley This Morning. The show runs Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. rain or shine.

I first met Bill at the local Home and Garden show at CSI several years ago and have enjoyed being on his program from time to time. Nearly one year ago, Bill stopped by my office to talk about the possibility of doing a weekly hour long segment he calls Pastors Round Table.

Left to Right
Bill (just out of sight), Bear (Magic Valley Bible Church), me, and Christopher Folkerts (New Covenant United Reformed Church)

I’ve had several other pastors in the area join us and fill in when one of us are gone. The guys in the photo are the regular pastors you hear every Thursday.

Their friendship is enjoyable. I’m thankful to God for His kindness to allow friendships like this. These guys are Biblical, trustworthy, articulate, and kindhearted. They love the Lord, it’s clear their families are priorities in their lives, and they are faithful to give their churches a word from God.

You should put this program on your calendar for every Thursday from 9-10 a.m. You can listen in on a radio at 1310 AM or audio stream online at Newsradio 1310 KLIX. Bill is on every weekday from 6-10 a.m. and writes news at Newsradio 1310 KLIX website.

Pastors Round Table

Every Thursday from 9:00 a.m – 10:00 a.m (mountain time) the local talk show, Magic Valley This Morning with Bill Colley, hosts an hour long segment called Pastors Round Table. During this hour listeners are encouraged to call in and engage with the pastors. Callers sometimes agree, sometimes disagree, other times they pose questions on the going subject of the day.

I’m thankful to God for the unique opportunity to think publicly with some local pastors on current issues from a biblically theological vantage point. My long time friend, “Bear” Morton, the pastor at Magic Valley Bible Church is usually with me and my new friend, Christopher Folkerts, the pastor at the New Covenant United Reformed Church along with a few other pastors from time to time (John Martinez, John Downs, Mickie Kelly) are articulate, careful, and Biblical thinkers.

There are a few ways you can listen in.

  • Listen on a radio. Tune your AM radio to 1310. KLIX is a local talk show station.
  • Listen online. http://newsradio1310.com/listen-live/popup/
  • Listen from this app. Apps for both ISO and Android. http://newsradio1310.com/app/

This week we will be taking on a few current events happening around the nation that impact the church.

  • Karen Pence vs. Lady Gaga
  • New York State Abortion Bill
  • Texas Religious Freedom of Speech Bill

Of course, because it’s a live show, with live callers, without a screener to prepare us for the questions, we take on whatever comes our way. It’s an invigorating hour, listen in. Share this link with others and invite them to listen as well. They can listen in from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

Pastors’ Round Table

Every Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. (mountain time) I’m on air along with Bear Morton, pastor at the Magic Valley Bible Church in Twin Falls, with the host of Magic Valley This Morning with Bill Colley. On July 12 we will pick up the topic from the 1689 Second London Confession questions 8 and 9.

#8 What is God
#9 Are there more Gods than one?

As time allows we will walk through these questions and discuss how it has impact on things like former president Jimmy Carter saying God would approve of same sex marriage and perhaps the case in Oregon related to an exercise of religious liberty.

A Call to Anguish

Every other week I publish a column in the Twin Falls, Times News in the religion section. I was asked to participate in this about eight years ago with several others in the city. Today, it is myself and pastor Bear Morton from the Magic Valley Bible Church who split the pastors’ corner column. The way print media (and internet media) works is all based on readership. Today, it is easier to tract actual readership via internet activity.

(If you are ever inclined to do so, reading the Saturday religion section of the Times News and interacting with and sharing the Pastors’ Corner column helps the publishers know people are reading it.)

And, weekly on Thursday’s at 9:00 a.m. I’m on the local secular radio station with an hour segment called ‘Pastors’ Round Table’. The host, Bill Colley, has been kind in inviting me to this one hour weekly time with other pastors in the valley. Of course, I’m pleased to have Bear Morton with me on the air too. Invite someone to listen with you this Thursday at 9:00 a.m. on 1310 AM KLIX.

This is the column I submitted last week to the Times News.

A Call To Anguish

The Old Testament evangelist, Isaiah, calls for the people of God to anguish or to weeping bitterly (Isaiah 21 – 22).

Most preaching heard in our day is more about personal goal setting, living for the moment, and enjoyment of temporal days. Where it’s true God’s people ought seek to be the most pleasant of people and filled with joy, it is not of a temporal kind of pleasure seeking.

When he was at a place to look at the city of Jerusalem, like Jesus when He wept over the city, Isaiah noticed that the people were not living  with a real understanding of the coming wrath of God because of their long-standing disobedience. The city of Jerusalem took much pride in that the temple of the Almighty God was in their city and yet did not live as though He was God at all.

It is the kindness of God that He would give faithful watchmen to warn of the coming of righteousness to judge all unrighteousness.

Christian, what do you see when you look at the normal activity of your city?

When you see the infatuation with sin of many in our day who make confession of being a follower of Christ, does it bother you at all?

When the shows at the local theater are mocking God and promoting debauchery, does it cause you to weep that many claiming Christ today are as active in the sinful activity as the unconverted?

When you see the children of many churches at our church camps, on our mission trips, or attending Vacation Bible Schools this summer; will you notice any difference in them at all from unchurched children? They’re talking about the same movies, they’re singing the same songs, they’re reading the same books, they’re using the same curse words, they’re disobeying their parents just like unbelievers, or they’re wearing the same seductive, self absorbed, eye catching clothing promoted by the latest fashion seen on people who openly hate God.

If you’ll look honestly into our day, you’ll see this is really how it is.

Our day is very similar to Isaiah’s. Everywhere he looked, he saw hardly anyone walking after God.

Who’s going to pray for anyone today when hardly anyone notices there is a coming judgment of God upon the church of God. My appeal to the reader today is not to the unbelieving in the valley, it’s an appeal the house of God, to pray.

Not to pray with platitudes, self absorption, and empty concern.

No, I’m talking about praying in anguish, deep weeping, bitter tears over the lost condition of the house of God. It there will be any hope for an awakening and a real movement of the Holy Spirit in our day, it will come from a house of God who sees as God sees and lives with compassion for the lost in the valley. This will not happen when they see that those claiming to be Christians are really no different than the unbeliever.

The only real difference is that the unbeliever in pursuit of sin is at least honest in who they are.

O, dear followers of Christ, we are in a day where there are few praying in anguish over the sins of our families, neighbors, government, or churches. Let us rise to our duty once again as watchmen on the wall who are honest about what we see, then let’s be faithful to give a clear warning of what is seen and proclaim to all that there is hope in Jesus the Christ, as described by the Bible alone.

This Week at the Pastors’ Round Table

This week I will be on-air with Bill Colley at Newsradio 1310 KLIX along with a few pastors from Cornerstone Baptist Church, Bruce Carlson and Keith Thompson.

We will be discussing the blessed ministries of Cornerstone Baptist in our city. Cornerstone Baptist is a faithful gospel preaching church in the city and faithful to give ministry to those recovering from sin addictions. Plan on listening in to the conversation on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.
