When Debauchery Is Viewed As Normal

In this current day more and more events are promoted as normal that historically would have been known as activities of debauchery. Just within the past few weeks some events, promoted as entertainment, filled with cross dressing, vulgar language, and laughter aimed toward righteousness and holiness have occurred within the city limits of Twin Falls. They have been happening from the beginning, they are just becoming more open and seen as acceptable forms of entertainment.

This kind of promotion is growing in popularity while at the same time hardly anyone within the Christian community speaks of it.

It is one thing to see the increasing boldness of corrupt morals and defaming of God’s creation. The beauty of His creation, humanity in general and male and female specifically is under attack on every front in our culture.

It is of another thing altogether to hear the silence from the Lord’s church. The work of the church is not to simply be an irritating noise amongst the community, it is to be that which God has intended for her to be, a reasonable caring voice based on the character of our Redeemer. Pastors, be a pillar and buttress of truth, churches, be a beaming lamp on a hill calling all sinners to repentance that they may find rest and joy in Christ.

My column this week is an aim to speak into the increasing lewdness and collapsing of decency at large. And appeal to you the reader to look to Christ for joy, rest, and peace.

For flourishing of any community to be of any lasting value from one generation to another there must be at the same time a respecting and valuing of Almighty God and his revealed order. If a church is to be considered a value to a community she must see that her primary duty is not to be entertained by the devaluing of morality or to stick her head in the sand and hope it all passes by without confrontation.

Any church within the valley that remains silent while immorality is hoisted up on the shoulders as the current hero of the day should be viewed as defective and void of truth. The church that silently watches the parade of depravity is part to blame for the growing confusion of what is right and wrong.

This said, obviously the church must exercise her bold speaking with kindness.

To be a truthful speaker one has to also learn that just pointing out how wrong everything is is a calloused act of great cruelty and adds no benefit to the hearer. The longer churches remains quiet on these matters the more complex it is when one does speak into the day. To encourage our congregants to participate in any “entertainment” that promotes what God forbids with silence only advances the hardness of heart of the would be lover of God. We benefit no one when we don’t speak into our day.

My encouragement to the church at large is to increase our compassion for the community enslaved by deadly sins. To speak from our pulpits of the grace of God only makes since when we also speak of the holiness of God. When there is no comparison of the righteousness of God to the depravity of man’s heart there will never be a revival of God’s church or an awakening of the Holy Spirit in our city.

Let’s arise together.

Churches in the city of Twin Falls, especially, we must speak into our city with love for God by warning those promoting wickedness or slightly laughing when we hear of professing Christians among those bold promoters.

This is my biblically reasonable appeal to pastors and churches of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Seduction from Virtue

Slowly, ever so slowly, society has been seducing professing Christians away from Biblical virtue.

What was seen among professing Christians 50 years ago as lewd behavior is now being seen with increasing acceptance into what’s been being called a new shifting normal.

This shift away from Biblical virtue, once seen as a desire of the professing follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, has been largely replaced, across the generational lines, with a wide sweeping acceptance and promotion of debauchery.

The follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, as defined by the Bible, must keep themselves on the alert.

Here are some things you could do to keep yourself from “falling asleep” while called to be alert.

  • Read the Bible: This discipline cannot be over looked. The reason many professing Christians have a problem with being seduced from Biblical virtue is because so many professing Christians aren’t reading their Bibles.
  • Believe the Bible: Another reason there can be such success over the professing Christians to abandon the commandments of the Bible is because they don’t believe the Bible to be the only accurate source to know who God is. This is a contributor to why more Christians don’t read their Bibles today; If you don’t believe the Bible to be the authority of God then there is really no desire to even want to read it .
  • Fear of the Lord: When there is no fear of God, foolishness becomes normal behavior. The Bible claims that the beginning of wisdom and knowledge is the fear of the Lord. When there is no fear of God, people will no longer believe the Bible to be true and when people no longer believe the Bible to be true they will quit reading it and when people stop reading the Bible (and churches stop preaching/teaching the Bible) we are now ready to be seduced from Biblical virtue and live with and at peace in that seduction.

What are a few things you should take a close look at?

  • Your Entertainment: Entertainment is enjoyed because it is something we desire. If your entertainment is driven by things the Bible warns for the believer to stay away from then the professing believer has to do one of two things; Change the things you are entertained with or stop reading your Bible. Sadly, most choose to stop reading their Bibles.
  • Your Friends: Friends are a kindness of God. If your friends are not influenced by a healthy hunger and thirst for righteousness then they will be feasting on the dung pile of filthiness. If you find your friends are hungry and thirsty for debauchery then the professing believer must do one of two things; Change your primary influencer (friends) or stop reading your Bible so you can start telling yourself how good it is that you have close friends who don’t follow God. Sadly, most choose to stop reading their Bibles.
  • Your Desires: The desires of our hearts are likely the best place to look closely at. We will do what our heart desires. This is why so often you hear people say to just “follow your heart”. According to the Bible, your heart can’t be trusted. You have to direct your heart or your heart will direct you. The professing follower of the Lord Jesus Christ must learn to discipline their heart to want what is holy and righteous or stop reading your Bible. Sadly, most choose to stop reading their Bibles.

The Bible instructs the follower of Christ to test themselves to see if they are in the faith. Let’s try this out.

On Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Twin Falls, Idaho, a live talent show to seduce people away from virtue will take place. Debauchery is the seduction from Biblical virtue.

Magic Valley Repertory Theatre presents Ursula’s BATTLE ROYALE 2! Starring and hosted by the marvelously beautiful Magic Valley Drag Sensation Ursula. Ursula’s Battle Royale 2 is calling all queens and kings! Join us for a talent battle of epic proportions! Presented by Magic Valley Repertory Theatre at the Historic Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Twin Falls! The one and only “Ursula” hosts her very competitive Battle Royale on the stage! A group of competing Kings and Queens will compete for the top spot as the areas top drag performer!

Test yourself here Christian.

  • Will you attend for “entertainment” purposes? What does this say about your entertainment? Have you read your Bible on this matter?
  • Will your friends be attending or promote this as just silly fun? Will you say “the performers are really talented and you just enjoy good talent” to justify your hunger and thirst for unrighteousness? Have you read your Bible on this matter?
  • Will you spend your time and money to laugh at what God declares unholy activity and somehow not have the energy (really desire) to study your Bible this week, pray with other Christians, gather for worship of God as a set-apart people?

Apparently fewer professing Christians live in the fear of God

What Will You Do Now?

“Warn the nations: Look!” (Jeremiah 4:16 NASB)

Twin Falls, ID: Times-News is reporting that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ordered the state of Idaho to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. If the orders by the 9th circuit court of appeals stands, county courthouses will be forced to issue marriage licenses to citizens who don’t meet the requirement of Idaho law.

I don’t doubt that those seeking a license are excited and in hopes of experiencing happiness. All Sinners pursue things that we think will make us happy. A court decision to act in favor of sexual deviance and debauchery is a dangerous day.

It is a good day to be the church! Speak the gospel into the darkness, church.

Here is the letter I wrote Governor Otter this afternoon: (You can contact his office here.)

Dear Governor Otter,

I respect that you are being pushed on every side to act on the new order from the 9th circuit court on the Idaho defense of marriage laws. I want you to know that I’m proud of your boldness in the past and I assure you that I will continue to pray for you on this matter.

If there is anything you can do to legally stay the court order as the governor of Idaho, please do so. If it is within your power to order county offices closed or if it is within your power to place the Idaho National Guard on orders to defend the people of Idaho from the United States of America, please do so with boldness.

Thank you for your defense of marriage.
