Two Weeks

Pastor’s Corner Column at MagicValley.com: December 8, 2012

Two weeks with WordPress has stretched me in technology knowledge. I’m not any more the wiser, but I’m certainly pleased with the migration from Blogspot to WordPress. On Saturday’s I will hope to post a weekly review and a few things I’m working on.

Monday, December 3:

  • Squirming in Your Blood: On the day (maybe the very hour) this child was born, she was abandoned. Her navel cord was not properly cut, she was not washed or wrapped in a blanket. When people saw the infant they must have assumed she was dead, for no one even gave her a second look with pity or had compassion for her. (continue reading)

Tuesday, December 4:

  • My ToolBox: I thought I would show you a look inside this pastor’s tool box. These four resources are a ‘must have’ for me. The Lord provided all four of these books through the generosity of his people. I’m Thankful to the Lord for them. (continue reading)
  • How Old Are You?: This question comes up several times a year from the students on my bus. Today, the conversation went down like this… (continue reading)

Wednesday, December 5:

  • In the News: The Intermountain Christian News asked me to write a short article for the December 2012/January 2013 edition about the Utah/Idaho Southern Baptist Annual Meeting. It was published yesterday. This resource is a good place to find out what’s going on in the inter-mountain region of Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming. HERE (page 9) And my monthly column in the Times News will be published this weekend, look for it on Saturday, December 8. (continue reading)
  • Weekly Prayer Guide: Contact Paul Thompson if you would like to have the password to open the Weekly Prayer Guide  (continue reading)

Thursday, December 6:

  • Genius – the Movie: ‎”Churches are filled with people who are strangers to genuine repentance because they’ve never had the law applied to their conscience.” [Ray Comfort]
The Way of the Master has just released a new documentary that is worth the :34 minute view. (continue reading)
Coming in 2013:
I’m working on the details of a weekly podcast. I’ve been reading about how to produce a podcast. I’m working on a format, plan, ideas and topics. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to leave me some ideas. I’m also open to the technical side of things, this is an area of great unknown for me. Until I’m ready to launch this in a format that I am able to feel comfortable with and ready to launch this as a weekly podcast, I’ll just continue reading, learning and preparing.

I used to have a “Podcasting for Dummies” book (not saying you’re a dummy), but I think I gave it away or sold it because I don’t see it in my library anymore. I listen to podcasts quite a bit in my commute back and forth to work and I think your idea for one is great!

      Thanks Andy!
I have actually read some thing online called podcasting for dummies. I’ll have to pick your tech skill on some of my set up. How long are most of the podcasts you listen to? I’m thinking about a 10 or 20 minute format.

Most are around the 30 minute mark, but one I listen to sometimes lasts up to two hours! The beauty of podcasting is you can make it any length you want, and if it is long, today’s technology lets you listen at your own pace.
