Tasty Chicken is No Savior

On Monday, news outlets began to repeat an announcement that the philanthropy arm of Chick-fil-A (CFA) would be making some changes in how they will give to organizations in the future.

Here are a few of my observations.

  • It is the responsibility that God gives to those who have money to do as they wish. God blesses and God holds them accountable.
  • There are no better waffle fries these temporal lips of mine have ever tasted.
  • I have nothing to say about where someone invests their money. I’m not a socialist Marxists.
  • There is no other fast food restaurant I visit that knows me by name (other than Sonic).
  • Where I’m thankful for the historic bold position that owners of CFA have taken on biblical standards, I’ve never experienced or heard of a CFA deny service to anyone regardless of what they believe or how they live.
  • Best lemonade anywhere, hands down.
  • I have learned from personal experience that the media is a poor source to get truth in relationship to issue driven agendas. When the media reports facts it is helpful, when the media reports issues it does so from a biased position. Primary resources are always best. Here is how CFA reports how and where they generously give their money… Chick-fil-A Foundation
  • I will never forget when my local CFA learned of the death of a man in our church. When they learned this man died at work CFA paid for meals for the entire work force that day. The local owner/operator learned of a family with a broken vehicle and stranded in Twin Falls once and when he learned they were a family from a Baptist church he called me and we were able to help them with other needs. This local experience I’ve had with CFA is told thousands of times in every city there is a CFA. No community with a CFA will regret having one.
  • The moment the church of the living God looks to the chicken sandwich to speak for them is a day when the church will be at a low place. The good news; God appointed His church to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. His church may stop for a chicken sandwich from time to time.
  • Where I’m always pleased to hear of how a Christian business owner will refuse to be directed by the culture I will not get my biblical boldness from a dyslexic cartoon cow.
  • May God bless His holy name whenever and wherever he wants.
  • I just received an email that a free milkshake has been added to my Chick-fil-A phone app.
