Are the Students in Danger?

This past week a school teacher in the Twin Falls School District in Twin Falls announced the reasons behind his not renewing his teaching contract.

In 2016 the TFSD updated its Title IX policy to include LGBTQ pronouns and behavioral practices. This happened quietly and has not been pressed, but the atmosphere is changing according to this former teacher at Canyon Ridge High School.

There were two other residents who spoke about the issue as well. You may want to attend the next TFSD board meeting before it’s too late. The next TFSD board meetings are on July 20, from 5-7, and on August 8 from 7-9 at Canyon Ridge High School in room #301.

Still Waiting…

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the SBC Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA.
1,418 miles, one time zone, and six days later, I’m still waiting for a direct answer to this question.

Shouts of Joy in the City Tonight

Dear beloved Eastside,
Tonight, if you hear the shout of rejoicing in the city it could be coming from the church house.

Today, I received word that Planned Parenthood in Boise has closed. I have confirmed that the Boise Planned Parenthood has indeed closed. At this time there is no plan to reopen.

We continue to fight this fight in our city; Planned Parenthood in Twin Falls was busy today. However, tonight, we rejoice in the Lord for His mercy.

Consider reordering your evening and join the celebration! We will gather at the church house for cake, shouts of praise, and loud singing from our psalter “Sing Free or Die”.

See you at 6 tonight.

Family Friendly Now Means Nothing

June, known to some as “PRIDE” month is not as “family-friendly” as some local groups want you to believe their sexually deviant celebrations are. I will include exhibit “A” at the end of this post so you can decide now if you want to see what is considered “family-friendly” by the Twin Falls City Council.

Let me devote this paragraph to warning you that you may not want to see what you will soon not be able to unsee after you see it. The setting is at the beautiful City Park in the heart of Twin Falls. It is on the same bandshell stage that the longest-running city band west of the Mississippi will perform every Thursday night all summer long for what we could argue is a “family-friendly” event. What you are on the verge of never unseeing again was at the 2021 PRIDE celebration in Twin Falls, Idaho aka – the “let me show you how much we hate God” event. You will notice children present, you will witness a man dressed up in women’s clothes, and you will then see that same man begin to behave like a teasing – undressing woman dancing and receiving money from the audience like a cheap stripper in a sleazy gentleman’s club – that is anything but gentlemanly. Notice how uncomfortable some of the children are when this freakish entertainment dances by them and in front of them. What you won’t see is anyone being arrested – after all, this is against the law. You won’t see the city police – not because they weren’t there, the video just doesn’t show them. What you also won’t see is the Twin Falls City Council at a recent council meeting voting to approve this kind of event without question. (To be fair, I asked them about this, only to be told that the group organizers promised to keep the event “family-friendly”.) Group organizers have promised to keep this kind of behavior behind closed doors and limited to age-appropriate audiences.

This is not how you seek the favor of God in your city. This is how you invite the judgment of God. Your city council will continue to advance this wickedness being celebrated as natural and normal so long as the church promotes it or remains silent.

Did I mention the churches promoting this kind of wickedness? There is no reason to protect the integrity of the Twin Falls United Methodist organization, the Our Savior Lutheran organization, or the Unitarian Universalist group because there is no integrity to protect. Then again the vast majority of the evangelical churches in the city are either silently ok with this or live in the fear of men rather than the fear of God.

Well, you have either skipped all of this and ran straight to the wickedness because of curiosity or you have not closed the page in fear of never unseeing what you are about to see.

Some will say this is not very bad. I don’t deny it could have been worse. But you won’t find this kind of scene in a Disney movie with a family-friendly rating… wait… that may not be true anymore.

This is true… this is NOT “family-friendly”. I urge you to contact the Twin Falls City Council and the Twin Falls Police department to express your thoughts. I have.

Biblical Clarity

It is always good to have Biblical clarity on all matters. We are living in a day where there is a need for Biblical clarity on manhood and womanhood.

This is why Eastside Baptist Church is hosting our Biblical Clarity on Manhood and Womanhood conference on April 22-23, 2022. There is no need to preregister to attend and don’t let any cost factor keep you or your family from attending.

We have Toby Sumpter, a pastor at Christ Church in Moscow, ID and co-host of CrossPolitic will be our speaker on Friday evening and Saturday morning. (see schedule below)

The Biblical Clarity conference will be hosted at Eastside Baptist Church in Twin Falls, ID. We will be pleased to welcome you to our building for the two-day conference. This conference will provide three meals, a dessert fellowship, a bookstore provided by Church and Family Life, psalm-singing, and a special visit from several of the critters from the newly formed Twin Falls Zoo.

It is not too late to plan to attend. We think the timing is right for Biblical clarity on manhood and womanhood. Join us in Twin Falls, ID in just a few days for this time of instruction, inspiration, correction, and fellowship with believers of the Lord Jesus the Christ in Southern Idaho and the northern Utah region.

A Monument of Mercy (guest blog by David Thompson)

Renee and I count it a joy in this temporal day as sojourners to have been blessed with two sons, double blessed with their wives, no words can explain this joy of witnessing them raise children to fear the God of my father.

This blog entry at www.PaulThompsonBlog.com is indeed a moment of mercy. David is my oldest son. His story is his story to tell and one I’m pleased to stand with as he raises this monument of God’s mercy for the glory of God.

The following was submitted to me by David yesterday to consider publishing here. Without hesitation, I shout hallelujah to the Most-High God, the maker of heaven and earth to encourage you to read and to even reflect upon the mercy of God in your own life.

A Monument Of Mercy

*David Thompson, the author, is the son of Pastor Paul Thompson. The outline is based on the prayer entitled “Peril” from “The Valley of Vision”.

The gift of repentance is one I have enjoyed with great regularity in my current season of life.

These are not new confessions. They have all been confessed to my Father in heaven, my wife & family, friends, and before my Church in public.

“In a felt spiritual darkness”

On a summer Wednesday night at our local Church prayer meeting I found myself spiritually paralyzed. I was sitting in my chair and felt physically incapable of uttering a prayer.

And I knew why.

“I cannot act faith at all”

Earlier that day I had been preparing for a sermon of all things, as I was scheduled for pulpit supply in a sister Church. I could not get through a prayer before sitting down to study.

And I knew why. Unrepentant sin.

“I am as vile as the worst sinner”

Christ had already granted me relief from long-spanning sins such as sexual immorality and laziness. I was accepting my responsibilities as a new husband after a previous marriage that I steered off a cliff. (A parenthesis for the sake of my wife’s honor, her marriage to me after my divorce was within Biblical allowance for remarriage and is approved as such by our Elders).

I was accepting my responsibilities as a new father and had stopped skipping Church to sleep in and watch football. I had begun faithfully giving in our Church and become a diligent worker in my job.

These may seem like a low bar, but there were many fruits I could see in my life of God working in my life, of sanctification, and yet I could not pray to my Father in heaven.

I had a hidden lie (not before God of course) that spanned a decade, and the shame of the truth and my unrepentant spirit were suffocating.

At the age of 20 while in the United States Air Force, I was a coward when faced with deployment to Afghanistan. I fabricated a physical condition to get myself medically discharged and sold this lie to my fellow Airmen, all of my family, and my Church.

“Yet thou hast made me a monument of mercy”

That same summer night on a Wednesday we left Church, and when I got home, God gave me a moment free of cowardice that had been the previous 10 years. I confessed this charade to my wife. Then my family that same night. They, like their own heavenly Father, forgave me.

I also confessed to the United States Air Force. I have never received any further response from them regarding this felony crime I am guilty of.

It then began to come up with Church family, and I eventually began to speak of the sexual immorality, laziness, failure as a husband, and cowardly deceit that had stained my soul. A day will come when I recount this all to my children and stand as both a warning of the consequences of lawlessness and a monument of mercy.

1 John 1:7-9 says:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Today I can pray. I can sing boldly before the throne. Christ bears my sin and my shame. He has risen me up as a monument of His mercy.

“Help me to walk worthy of my heavenly pedigree”

Brother & Sister, if you have long hidden sins and the shame of their being brought to light seems too great a cost, bring your guilt to Jesus. Ask for his power to work in you to repent to all those you know you must. Your weary soul will only find rest in the embrace of Jesus.

What Would the Early Church Say?

The past few years has been showing the divide in the nation is very wide. The past few weeks have shown the continental drift of morality is near a seismic shift catastrophe.

Abortion is a subject that will not go away until the nation is destroyed or repents.

Consider what’s been going on in states like Maryland, California, and Colorado just this past week moving full infanticide permission bills through the legislative path that seems clear they will soon put into motion permissions that will protect doctors (who would prove themselves to be Not-a-Doctor-Doctor) and mothers (who will prove themselves unfit for motherhood) with legislative power to murder their children, in some cases up to six weeks past birth. That is unthinkable.

Compare that with what states like Mississippi, Texas, Idaho, and now Oklahoma are doing. Where these new “near-abolition” bills are gaining ground and are advancing in more conservative states they have yet to abolish abortion.

The two cases at least show a widening of the moral gap.

But what would the early church say about such actions?

Here is what Tertullian had to say: ““In our case, a murder being once for all forbidden, we may not destroy even the fetus in the womb, while as yet the human being derives blood from the other parts of the body for its sustenance. To hinder a birth is merely a speedier man-killing; nor does it matter whether you take away a life that is born, or destroy one that is coming to birth. That is a man which is going to be one; you have the fruit already in its seed” (Apology 9:8 [A.D. 197]).

But this statement stops a man in his tracks: ““all knew well enough that a living being had been conceived, and [they] pitied this most luckless infant state, which had first to be put to death, to escape being tortured alive” (The Soul 25 [A.D. 210]).

Where is the statesman in any state willing to say this and more, where is the man in the pulpit willing to claim the glory of God with such boldness?

What a sad state of affairs. There is no mercy to the “luckless” child in the womb to be put to death to escape being tortured alive.

God save the nation!
