The Death Sentance for the Preborn?

Guest writer: Dan Coburn, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Cottonwood, ID

“This is with regard to the “option” of sponsored abortion in the case of rape or incest.  I am against it for the following reasons. I am convinced that each and every life is sacred in the eyes of our Lord, and the child conceived via rape or incest is no less valuable than any other. The propensity toward rape is not hereditary.

I fully recognize the anguish the victim might suffer, but rather than kill the child, I would be for killing the rapist. To sentence the rapist up to three years, while sentencing the child to death is outrageous to me.

There are lots of folks to blame in any unwanted pregnancy, but not the child. The child in question would be no less eligible or desirable for adoption than any other. This from someone who has raised two adopted sons, and multiple foster children.

Finally, the instances aforementioned comprise less than 1% of the total number of children aborted annually, and serve primarily as a “foot in the door” for other abortions.  I am against any exception justifying the killing of an unborn child.

P.S.   We waited four years to adopt a four year old. Perhaps a revamping of the State guidelines w/regard to adoption is in order.”
